VERY SAD NEWS: One of our original Beaver Scouts, Nicholas Webster-Smith died on 3rd November 2009 while serving as a Corporal in the Royal Military Police in Afghanistan.
The following statement is from Jan Evans, Group Scout Leader and Nicky's original Beaver leader back in 1993. Cpl Nicholas Webster-Smith – Royal Military Police In Remembrance Nicky, or Nick as he was known, was born in Carmarthen and moved to Pembrokeshire about ten years ago. Nick was one of the original Beaver Scouts with 1st Carmarthen Scout Group and progressed through Cub Scouts and Scouts. He was a valued member of the group in his eight years with us. Nick had carried the Group Standard for 1st Carmarthen in at least two Remembrance Day services. At this years service, and for all that follow, we will not forget him. He was an excellent sportsman, being particularly involved with football from an early age. He was a good friend to all. His father, Rick was our Group Chairman for many years and both Nicks brothers, Chris and Sam and his sister, Hannah followed him in Scouting. Jackie his mother was a dedicated supporter of the group. He will be deeply missed by his friends and leaders in scouting. His death has drawn together friends from all over the United Kingdom in person and via emails and phone calls. Last Friday night’s Scout meeting was dedicated to Nick with former group members calling in to remember the happy times and to reminisce over old photos.
